You're on my list. I want to make sure that's still a good thing!

Clifton Creative

Hey —

You're getting this because at some point you signed up for something connected to me. Maybe it was Television Without Pity. Maybe it was a newsletter I mentioned and then went quiet on. Maybe it was something else entirely.

Whatever it was — I appreciate that you're still here, even if I haven't given you much reason to be lately.

I've been incredibly busy in ways that are hard to summarize, but I'm going to try.

I'm writing a new novel.

It's called Oldie. Midapocalyptic literary fantasy. Seven islands at the edge of the shattered world, seven Dreamers who hold the whole thing together, and one very strange conflict that hasn't started yet.

The whole thing is being built in public at kidswithnukes.com — dispatches, worldbuilding, character studies, and a serialized prelude for early readers. If you're here for the fiction, that's where to go.

I'm still running a writing school.

A Rough Trade Writing School (ART School) is my Patreon-based curriculum for writers who are serious about craft. We're about 220 members strong. It's structured, it's opinionated, and it's full of writers actually working on things. The curriculum covers narrative, voice, world, and practice.

If you've ever wanted to be in a room of people who treat writing like a practice and not a hobby, that's the room.

I'm doing editorial and content strategy work.

Clifton Creative is where the professional side of my brain lives. I run a blog there about content strategy, editorial leadership, brand voice, and the SEO conversations most agencies are too polite or too scared to have honestly.

If you found me through the content and media world, that's where I'm doing that work.

Here's my ask: I'd rather send you things you actually want than fill your inbox with things you don't. It takes about 60 seconds.

Tell me what to send you!

If one of the links above already said what you needed, you can just click that and I'll figure it out. Otherwise, please take a moment to respond to the survey at this link.

If none of this sounds like you anymore — if you're not sure why you're on this list or you're just done — the unsubscribe link is below and I genuinely mean it when I say that's fine. A smaller list of people who want to be here is better than a big one of people who don't.

More soon.

— Jacob
